Haiku – “Thinking with Your Senses”

You might think this is a blog about writing Haiku. It’s not. While I may include one occasionally, this site is about learning to think as if you were writing Haiku. I won’t explore the beautiful history of Haiku (there are many wonderful books about that); I will simply say that MOST Haiku are poems with 17 or fewer syllables. Most are constructed by:

  • First line of 5 syllables
  • Second line of 7 syllables
  • Third line of 5 syllables

The wonderful thing about Haiku (to me anyway) is the importance of mindfulness – being in the moment. It’s “thinking” with your senses…all of them.

Hope you enjoy!
